Purpose :
Also referred to as Mental Health First Response, this course describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise situations where people may be in imminent crisis. You will learn to work collaboratively to minimise any safety concerns and make plans to access required support services.

  • Address immediate safety concerns
  • Seek assistance from, and/or provide referral to supervisor, emergency services and appropriate professionals as required
  • Undertake the principles and practice of self-care, supervision and debriefing
  • Complete accurate documentation
  • Legal and ethical consideration relevant to recognizing and responding to crisis situations
  • Types of crisis situations
  • Common indicators or signs of crisis in other people
  • Personal values, beliefs and attitudes that facilitate or impede crisis
  • Principles and practices of crisis intervention
  • Referral options and procedures for accessing services

Location: Most of our courses being held in Noble Park, Bulleen and Greensborough

Requirements for Successful Course Completion :

    • Attendance at all sections of the course is required
    • Active participation in group activities and discussions involved in the training program
    • Successfully complete progressive practical assessments. Progressive assessment of the competencies will be conducted throughout the course
    • Successfully complete either a multiple-choice theoretical assessment, demonstrate practical application of skills or answer structures verbal questions in a one on one or group capacity by the end of the course
